You have really given me food for thought on this. So we're pretty confident that we'll be fine as we continue to use this device with it running Win XP.Thank you for your replies. This sign isn't used to surf the web or access email either. That connects to this device. The other reason we're not upgrading the OS is the fact the the hard drive is one of the first generation SSDs that were built and is too small for Win 7 or 8.1.Our thinking is if the sign somehow gets hit with a virus/malware, we can simply reboot the sign (which happens automatically every night anyway) and the system will undo any changes that would have happened during the day, including the installation of the virus/malware.Also, we (the IT dept) is the only dept.
Windows Xp Embedded Upgrade The Monitor
We has issues with the old version of windows media player on the monitor and thus back to the original post of trying to figure out if it was possible to upgrade the monitor to windows 8.So if anyone would know where I could get an upgraded version of Magic info pro that would be another way I could go instead of upgrading windows on the monitor. I tried to find an updated version of Magic Info pro, but couldn't find one and that is when we decided to drop magic info pro altogether and create looping AVI video's and just have the embedded PC on the monitor play a looping avi instead. We have upgraded everyone to Windows 8 and that is when I discovered that Magic Info Pro doesn't work so well. It works great when the user's PC was Windows XP. The way we had it setup originally is I installed the Magic Info Pro software on their PC's and connected it, via the network, to the magic info pro that is installed on the monitor. I have a few people in our editing department that are responsible for posting the info on these screens.
